FOGMAKER IS THE MARKET LEADER IN EUROPE FOR AUTOMATED FIRE SUPPRESSION IN BUSES AND HAS OVER 110,000 INSTALLATIONS ACROSS ALL VEHICLE TYPES GLOBALLY
Fogmaker high pressure water mist is very efficient for extinguishing fires in multiple areas. The water mist gives an immediate choking and quickly cooling effect. Unique for the water mist is the fact that it fills the entire fire-protected area and access fire beds outside the direct spreading area of the nozzles.
Fogmaker is the market leader in Europe, the Middle East and Australia for automated fire suppression systems in Buses,
with installations in more than 50 countries since 1995.
This is the website for Fogmaker in the United Kingdom. For Fogmaker International please go to www.Fogmaker.com.
Easy to Install
Fogmaker suppression system is normally installed in less than one working day. The installation is carried out in the UK by our certified service agents J. Lewis Auto Electrical.
Re-setting a released Fogmaker Fire suppression system is often simpler, faster and much cheaper compared to powder or foam suppression systems.
Quick Service
Once a year the fire suppression system should be inspected and the functions tested by a certified service technician. Normally, this does not take more than one hour.
Every five years the suppression system should undergo a complete service, where the suppression fluid is also replaced.
Efficient Suppression
Fogmaker high pressure water mist is efficient for suppressing fires in engine compartments. The water mist gives an immediate choking and cooling effect.
The water mist’s ability to quickly suppress the fire limits or stops the damage in the engine compartment. The system works without electricity supply and is position independent (if the vehicle is laying on the side or up-side-down).
How it works
The piston accumulator (1) filled with extinguishant and nitrogen and pressurized to 100-105 bar is connected to a distribution system consisting of: distribution hose(s), distribution pipes and Fogmaker’s patented high pressure water mist nozzles (2).The detector bottle (3) filled with detector liquid and nitrogen, pressurized to 24 bar is connected to a polymer detector tube (4).The piston accumulator and the detector bottle are inter-linked via a patented release valve (5) that keeps the piston accumulator closed if the pressure in the detection system is normal.
If there is a fire – the detector tube bursts (6), the pressure falls in the detection system and the valve on the piston accumulator releases. As the system deploys, the pressure switch warns the driver through the alarm system (7). The extinguishant is pressed through the distribution system’s nozzles and a high pressure water mist is spread throughout the protected volume (8).
Absorbs heat: 1 liter of high pressure water mist is converted into 1700 liters of water vapor by consuming 540 000 kilocalories.
Fogmaker’s water mist contain so small drops that 8000 of them fill out a normal sized water drop.

The Fire Triangle
The fire triangles or combustion triangles or ″fire diamond″ are simple models for understanding the necessary ingredients for most fires. The triangle illustrates the three elements a fire needs to ignite: heat, fuel, and an oxidizing agent (usually oxygen).
Fogmaker attacks all three elements.
Creating Fog
As high pressure forces the extinguishing fluid through Fogmaker's patented spray nozzles, 8000 tiny droplets are made per every one normal sized droplet. The result is a mist or 'Fog'
Fire Suppression
1 litre of extinguishing fluid absorbs 540 000 kilocalories and produces 1700 litres of water mist.
This creates a choking effect removes the oxygen and cools the temperature significantly. A layer of foaming agent covers the area to prevent re-ignition.
Fire Suppression on Buses in the UK and Ireland
The engine compartment in a bus is narrow and hot, with many potential hotbeds. A hot engine shares a limited space with hydraulics and fuel tubes, electric installations, compressors, heaters and much more that can constitute fire hazards.
The course of event of a fire in an engine compartment is often fast and difficult to suppress with only a hand extinguisher.
Internationally Fogmaker delivers to the largest European Bus Manufacturers. In the UK and Ireland Fogmaker has protected vehicles operated by Bus Eireann, Dublin Bus, Arriva, Go Ahead, Stagecoach, Metroline, London United, National Express and many more. Fogmaker can be retrofitted onto all bus and coach types.

Fogmaker has accreditation and approvals from leading authorities
Fogmaker is the first fire suppression system to hold the type approval certificate with regard to UNECE Regulation No. 107 (regulation for buses and coaches in Europe).
